Bob Beemer, (AKA Robert Joseph Beemer, and Bobby Beemerino) was born on February 8, 1955, at Queen of Angels Hospital in Hollywood, California. Graduating from Loyola High School (Los Angeles) in 1973, he studied film and English at Loyola Marymount University in Weschester, California, earning a bachelors degree with a double major in those two fields. Always fascinated by music, he became an expert in remixing sound for movies. His first recorded sound was on Roots (1977). The Academy of Motion Pictures has nominated him for several Academy Awards, and, as of January 2004, he has won two: for Speed (1994) and for Gladiator (2000).
