Movies - Bugs Bunny Rides Again

Bugs Bunny Rides Again is a 1948 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies
short, directed by Friz Freleng, and written by Tedd Pierce
and Michael Maltese .

Synopsis

Yosemite Sam is in town and no one dares to challenge him except Bugs. After Sam declares "this town isn't big enough for the both of us" (and Bugs tries to rectify that by building more in the town), they square off in a variety of disciplines (especially dancing). Bugs tries to get him to take the train out of town when all is said and done, but when the locomotive is revealed to be full of bikini-clad women, Bugs manages to beat Sam to the train. In this way, Bugs is definitely the real winner.

Trivia

  • When Sam first introduces himself, he originally described himself as "the roughest, toughest he-man hombre that's ever crossed the Rio Grande--and I don't mean Mahatma Ghandi!" Subsequent reissue prints have redubbed the last line to "And I ain't no namby-pamby!"
