The soundtrack for the movie Captive is the only solo album to date by The Edge, guitarist of U2.

The Edge was approached to score the film, which was released in the United Kingdom.

The Edge approached Michael Brook, the creator of the infinite guitar which his regularly uses, to help him with this soundtrack album.

Brook co-produced and helped with the instrumentals and some of the writing chores.

Edge also approached a young vocalist just beginning to appear on the Dublin scene to provide vocals for the main theme. This was Sinéad O'Connor, who has since gone on to have a very successful career of her own. Larry Mullen Jr also provided drums on the main theme. Heroine was released as a single.

The music on "Captive" is a mix of ambient styles, and is quite a soothing listen. The majority of tracks are instrumental.
