Synopsis

Funshine Bear loves jokes and enjoys making the Care Bears laugh. When one of his jokes goes too far, however, he decides to leave Care-a-lot, hoping to find someplace where he can joke without upsetting anyone. He ends up in Joke-a-lot, where a rat named Sir Funnybone declares him to be the long-lost King of that place. What he doesn't know, though, is that Funnybone is actually using him as part of a plot to gain power.

Airing history

The film premiered a few days before its DVD release in October 2004 on the YTV network, before doing so on Disney Channel on December 12 that same year. In 2005, the latter aired it during the months of May and September.

Soundtrack

Care Bears: Journey to Joke-a-lot has a soundtrack featuring all songs from the film and many original songs as well. Songs available only on the soundtrack include "Everyone Loves the Care Bears," "Me and My Amigo" and "Seriously."

Film references

This movie includes references to at least two other films:
2001: A Space Odyssey and Disney's Aladdin.

Throughout the film, the computer Pal refers to the villain Funnybone as "Dave" and then later tells him that she's afraid she can't open the pod bay doors.

Additionally, lamenting his lame henchmen, Funnybone gripes that someday he's going to get a real henchman—a parrot or something. The villain Jafar in
Aladdin had a foul-mouthed parrot named Iago.
