Collateral Damage is a 2002 action film which tells the story of a Los Angeles firefighter Gordy Brewer (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) who looks to avenge his son's and wife's deaths at the hands of a guerrilla commando, by traveling to Colombia and facing his son's killers.

Story

Brewer's wife and son were collateral damage in an attack aimed at members of the Colombian consulate and American intelligence agents. When Brewer was unable to get anybody to take care of the situation, he travels to Colombia himself to avenge his wife and son. Brewer makes one attempt to kill "El Lobo" , the terrorist who was believed to have orchestrated the first attack in the movie, but fails when he realizes that he would have to kill El Lobo's wife and son too. The climax comes when he realizes that El Lobo has no son, and that his wife is simply using the little boy as bait to sneak a bomb into a government facility.

The movie stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Francesca Neri, Elias Koteas, Cliff Curtis, John Leguizamo, John Turturro, Rick Worthy, Lindsay Frost and Ethan Dampf.

It was written by Ronald Roose, David Griffiths and Peter Griffiths. It was directed by Andrew Davis.

The movie was supposed to include the famous Colombian actress Sofia Vergara, who played an airplane hijacker. But, after the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack the scene where Vergara would hijack a plane was scratched from the movie. Moreover, scenes which might be considered unpatriotic have been excluded. The film was originally scheduled to be released on October 5, 2001, but it was postponed due to its terrorism theme and eventually released on Friday, February 8, 2002.
