Company is a 2002 Hindi film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi and Mohanlal. It is a fictional exposé of the Mumbai underworld, loosely based on the Indian mafia organization D-Company known to be run by Dawood Ibrahim. This critically acclaimed movie is regarded as Ram Gopal Varma's best and most mature effort.StoryThe film highlighted the economics behind running a mafia gang. The story revolves around a young guy named Chandu Vivek Oberoi joining the world of crime to make it big someday. Gradually he learns tricks of the trade and increases the gang's earnings and profits. This leads to his affinity with Malik Ajay Devgan. However both come at loggerheads during an execution of a contract killing. The rift between Vivek Oberoi and Ajay Devgan widens due to misunderstandings. Both become bitter enemies of each other. Both Chandu and Malik now try to eliminate as many members of each other's gang as possible. This results into an intense gang war. Meanwhile a politician tries to use Malik's gang to eliminate a front-runner, a contender for Chief Minister's post. The film reaches its climax when Chandu kills the politician (the mastermind behind murders) within the prison. At the same time, one of Chandu's aides shoots Malik point blank. The film ends on a sadistic note wherein Chandu spends the rest of his life in jail. An eminent character played by Mohanlal is the police commissioner. He persuades Chandu to surrender to police.
