| Editing Cut Out is one of the many transitions that film editors can use at the end of the shot. It provides the transition from one shot to the next. A "cut-out" record is a record album (LP) that didn't sell upon release, was returned, and then was discounted, with the corner cut off to signal to the consumer not to pay full price. Sometimes books, CDs, and other products are sold on this basis and referred to as "cut-outs," even though their corners are not physically cut off.
