| Deathlands: Homeward Bound was a low budget film based loosely on the Deathlands series of books that is written under the pseudonymn James Axler and published by Gold Eagle Publishing. The film stars Vincent Spano and Traci Lords. The movie did not go over well for the fans of the books, since the director took many liberties with the storyline and characters. The lack of a proper budget was also a major problem; one reviewer opined that the film's budget was "well into the tens of dollars." Key changes in the film included making one fan favorite character, albino teen Jak Lauren, a hot-headed mutant savage and completely ommiting the character of Doc Tanner.
