| Die Hard Arcade is a 1 or 2 player game in which the male and/or female characters fight through action-packed levels to save the president's daughter from a band of terrorists. It was created by Sega, using a team up of the successful Japanese AM1 (Arcade Machine 1) group and US-based Sega Technical Institute (STI), which had created most of the Sonic series of games following the original, to create this game. AM1 provided the engineering, and some of the design and art, and STI provided art, design and animation. The game was created simultaneously for the Titan Arcade system and Sega Saturn but the home version was released later. The game is a beat-em-up with loose ties to the Die Hard movie series of the same name. However, other than the title, the building and the fact that the hero looks like John McClane, the game and the movie have little to do with each other (in fact, the license was purchased when the game was essentially complete for the US release). The game is played by fighting your way through waves of enemies, using fists, legs, and a ludicrous variety of weapons. You progress through the requisite baddies and bosses with cutscenes interspersed into the action (along with 'interactive' cutscenes where you have to hit certain buttons fast enough for good results, a la Dragon's Lair or Shenmue). Die Hard Arcade (or Dynamite Deka for the non-licensed import version) also has a sequel that was released in arcades and Dreamcast titled Dynamite Cop. TriviaThis video game is one of several released based on the Die Hard franchise. Others include Die Hard Trilogy, for the Saturn, PC and PlayStation, Die Hard: Vendetta for the GameCube, and Die Hard: Nakatomi Plaza for the PC. The STI team members are credited in the arcade version but get no credit in the Sega Saturn version of the game, even though it is essentially the same game.[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Die Hard Arcade ] Some related entries: Tintin and the Treasure of Red Rackham | Die Screaming, Marianne | The Visit | The World's Best Prom | Justice | Jolyon Wagg | Free Willy 3: The Rescue | 1948 in film | No Way Out | Hidden Fuhrer: Debating the Enigma of Hitler's Sexuality | Blueprint This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article Die Hard Arcade; it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
