Don't Go In The Woods...Alone (the title on the print is 'Don't Go In The Woods') is widely regarded as residing at the absolute bottom of the barrel as far as the still-notorious video nasties are concerned. The film, made in 1982 by one James Bryan, is a technical disaster area, boasting terrible acting, a horrible score (consisting of electronic 'wows' and squawks, entry-level acoustic guitar doodles and 'comedy' keyboard riffs, plus a dreadful reworking of 'The Teddy Bears' Picnic', credited to one H.Kingsley Thurber), shoddy special effects, shaky camerawork, choppy editing...the list of shortcomings is practically endless. The gore is plentiful (though the gory scenes are few and far between) but the cheap FX work renders it ridiculous, and the film appears to have been made by profiteers looking to cash in on the wave of slasher flicks whilst spending as little time, money and effort on their anti-masterpiece as possible.

Briefly released on video in the United Kingdom in the early 1980s on an obscure label, Don't Go In The Woods...Alone remains unavailable in the UK after the ban imposed on it in the wake of the Video Recordings Act. Thurber also scored Frozen Scream, another film on the banned list.
