Movies - Down House

Down House ( Russian:"Даун Хаус" ) is a 2001 Russian movie, a parody The Idiot novel.

The plot is set modern Moscow (looks mostly like the second half of the 1990s), with the "New Russians", Hummer H1 jeeps, bribe-taking, carriages of tinned stew as dowry, and so on.

The film is far from the novel's subject (but still keeps to the main story line of novel). It features Fyodor Bondarchuk as Myshkin and a soundtrack from modern Russian electonic musician DJ Groove, as well as electronic group "Нож для фрау мюллер" ( English: "Knife for frau Muller").

The Russian "Даун Хаус" is a transliteration of the English words "Down House" with Russian letters, that is a strong reference to the cyberpunk culture in Russia, where reverse (Russian to English) transliteration was widely used.
