Dragonheart II is a movie that was released to video in 2000 as a sequel to the movie Dragonheart.

The story starts a year or so after the death of Sir Bowen; a knight of the old code. He was blessed with the gift of the Dragon Egg which at the time contained Drake. The Friars pledged to hide the dragon away. Why? Because a prophecy was stated that said a dragon's heart would doom mankind when a two-tailed comet blazed across the night sky. Many feared that Drake's heart was the heart of the Prophecy and so for years he was hidden away...that is until a stable boy named Geoff finds him and unlocks the secret of what truly lies in a dragon's heart.

Dragons

Drake

A young dragon who lives in Friar Peter's monastery. He never went outside until Friar Peter's death. He was taught over time how to fly and breath fire thanks to Liann and Master Kwan. He also befriends Geoff as well as Liann and Master Kwan. With his new friends he learns to fly, breathe fire and breathe ice. His exact age is unknown but from what can be seen he may be about 20. He is voiced by Robby Benson.

Griffin

Griffin was an evil dragon that thought the pledge of peace between humans and dragon kind was a cruel joke. He plotted a rebellion that almost succeeded but he was captured and his heart was plundered and placed in a red round box. He was then cursed to live as a man until a two-tail comet passed across the sky which signaled the end of the Prophecy and the breaking of the curse set upon him. He can breath fire but not ice. He is much older and somewhat stronger than Drake. Also he is much larger and is about Draco's size.

Draco

Draco was the last living dragon until Sir Bowen slayed him. His son is Drake. Draco is a very old dragon and is huge. His wingspan is approximately 50ft from tip to tip. He was probably the largest dragon in the Kingdom next to Griffin.

Humans

Geoff

The young orphaned stable boy. He was around 17 years old when he first met Drake. Soon after meeting the dragon he met Liann and Master Kwan. He befriended them and allowed them to teach Drake how to breathe fire and ice. Geoff became Protector of the Realm when Lord Osric met Drake for the first time. He shares half of Drake's heart since Drake shared his heart with him. Geoff lives in a monastery along with Mansel and Friar Peter

Mansel

Mansel is a humble but kind friar who was assigned the task of caring for Drake after Friar Peter passed away. He believes in the principles of God as taught by the monestary. He however sometimes forgets to follow them and Geoff reminds him a lot. He keeps his task and Drake a secret until Geoff persuades him to tell.

Liann

The young Chinese Empress, Liann has a big responsibility on her hands. She traveled to the Kingdom with Master Kwan her mentor and servent. She told Geoff all about the dragons of the East and all about Griffin. She carried the amulet that held Griffin's withered heart. She leads their ox pulled cart which is painted with Chinese symbols.

Master Kwan

The servant and mentor of Liann. Master Kwan is a master of martial arts and a renowned expert on dragons. He travels to the Kingdom when he hears of Drake's existence. He is also the person who taught Drake how to breathe fire and ice. Kwan also owns the amulet with Griffin's heart inside it.

Friar Peter

Friar Peter is the head Friar and master of the monastery. He left his scrolls with Brother Gilbert and then Mansel when he passed away. He was said to have a brilliant mins and a bad hand at poetry.

Sir Bowen

The knight of the old code that killed Draco and many other dragons. He was a master knight. He taught the first prince of the Kingdom how to fight and joust. He was given the gift of the Dragon Egg when he returned to Draco's cave before his death.

Sharing of the Heart

The Story and Incantation

A dragon can share its heart with one person only. The dragon however must be very careful when sharing because if he shares his heart with one who is corrupt then he will lose his place in Dragon Heaven or Constellation Draco. To properly share his heart the dragon must speak this incantation:

"Half this heart to make you whole, its strength to purify your weakness"

This spell is the only one that can effectively raise someone from the dead. Once a dragon share's its heart the human bonded to it shares its every triumph, and every pain. This can be a bit problamatic for an old dragon like Draco.

The Prophecy

What the Prophecy Said

The Prophecy of the Comet was a mysterious one. It was also an omen of sure destruction. The prophecy is this:

"A dragon's heart will doom mankind when a two-tailed comet blazes across the night sky"

Nobody knew which dragon would doom them so fear was imminent. To prevent the newly acquired Drake from being evil Sir Bowen ordered him to be locked away until the comet had passed. Drake was let out four days early by Geoff when they met.
