Dressed to Kill is a 1941 crime mystery based on Richard Burke's novel. The movie stars Lloyd Nolan, Mary Beth Hughes & Sheila Ryan. The film was based on The Dead Take No Bows, a mystery based on characters created by Brett Halliday.

Plot

Detective Michael Shayne and his girlfriend Joanne leave a marriage bureau when shots fired in a nearby theatre draw his attention to a string of theatrical murders.

Critical reaction

When the film was released on DVD in 2005, called the film "one of the most enjoyable 'B' movies I've ever seen." writes the film "benefits from a powerhouse supporting cast and the effectively moody cinematography of Glenn MacWilliams."
