Evan Almighty is a sequel to the 2003 film Bruce Almighty
. The film is currently in the planning stages of development. It'll be directed by Tom Shadyac, written by Bobby Florsheim, Steve Oedekerk, and Josh Stolberg, and produced by Gary Barber, Roger Birnbaum, Michael Bostick, Neal H. Moritz, and Tom Shadyac. The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures and released on June 29, 2007.

Plot

Newly elected to Congress, Evan (Steve Carell) leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions.
