| This 1995 film was directed by the author Tsitsi Dangarembga who became the first black Zimbabwean woman to direct a feature film. Focusing on the growing problem of children living in hardship - especially as a result of AIDS - Everyone's Child follows the abrupt journey of two children into a world of adult responsibility. Itayi and Tamari are devastated following the death of both parents, shunned by family and friends and left with nothing. Frustrated and in despair Itayi tries his luck in the big city, leaving Tamari at home to look after herself and her younger brothers and sisters.
