Flesh for Frankenstein is a 1973 film by Paul Morrissey (co-directed/supervised by Antonio Margheriti), starring Udo Kier, Joe Dallesandro, Monique van Vooren and Arno Juerging.

The film was shot in 3-D in Italy and supports its landscapes and music, including some themes by Richard Wagner.

Like Blood for Dracula
, made by the same crew and cast, Morrisey attempts to use the gothic story as a statement and comment on power, knowledge and social order. The narrative makes one think of Michel Foucault's writing in general, and on Bruno Latour's anthropological studies of how scientists behave in particular.

While the Dracula film perhaps reads best as a classic sociological text on power and structure (Marx, Durkheim, Weber), the Frankenstein film is more subtle in the way it enrolls scientific knowledge as a part of the discourse.

Much of the lasting power in this Frankenstein version is perhaps due to how it uses a character gallery similar to The Addams Family, plus extremely violent and sickening scenes (it was either banned or heavily cut in most countries), to elaborate on the theme of knowledge/power and how science is never neutral.

Some critics have compared the film with Pasolini's Salo and Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris.
