Movies - Fletch Won

Fletch Won is the eighth book in the Fletch series of mystery/comedy novels written by Gregory Mcdonald, and was published in 1985. The story predates the first seven books in the series, and follows the early days of the title character's journalism career. Fletch scores his first big interview, only to have the subject turn up dead in the newspaper's parking lot. He investigates, beginning his dual profession of journalist and investigator.

Film Adaptation

Director Kevin Smith
is a fan of the 1985 novel, and convinced Miramax head Harvey Weinstein to pick up the rights to the novel when they became available. He intended to write and direct an adaptation of Fletch Won, following the original novel much more closely than either of the popular Chevy Chase
films. In October 2005, producer David List announced that "Kevin Smith is no longer affiliated with the Fletch film as writer or director." A fact with Smith has backed multiple times as well .
