| Gene Levitt (May 28 1920 - November 15 1999) was an American film writer, producer and director. He was born in New York City and was named Eugene by his parents Charles and Teresa Levitt. He had an older sister, Betty Ruth. His mother died when Gene was about 12 years old. His father subsequently married Ida. Gene's first great adventure was traveling to the West to attend the University of Wyoming where he was graduated. He remained a proud and involved alumnus his entire life.
