| Gidget Goes Hawaiian is a 1961 "beach movie", the second of three Gidget films directed by Paul Wendkos. The screenplay was written by Ruth Brooks Flippen based on characters created by Frederick Kohner. Deborah Walley played the title character; other cast members included James Darren, Michael Callan, and Carl Reiner. Gidget Goes Hawaiian is a sequel to the 1959 film Gidget (which starred Sandra Dee), but only James Darren (as Gidget's boyfriend 'Moondoggie') reprises his role. Some scenes from the first film were actually re-shot with the new cast to be used as flashbacks.
