Movies - Godzilla 3D to the MAX

Godzilla 3D to the MAX (ゴジラ 3D - Gojira Surî-Dî) is an IMAX tokusatsu 3-D film currently in planning phase (it has not yet been produced). Helming the film is Yoshimitsu Banno, who previously directed Godzilla vs. Hedorah
in 1971. This film is being produced by Banno's own company, Advanced Audiovisual Productions, in Japan, but the movie is being planned for the American market (and with an American cast). Toho Company Ltd., the creators of Godzilla
, will act as technical advisors for the Godzilla character, and will distribute the film in Japan. Eiichi Asada is slated to helm the special effects.

Aside from the 3-D IMAX format, the film is planned to be shot in 70 mm and is slated to be 40 minutes long. It is set to be released on September 12, 2007.

The new daikaiju is called Deathla. Bearing some resemblance to Hedorah, the Smog Monster
from Banno's previous Godzilla film, it reawakens Godzilla, who had been hibernating in the Iguassu Falls in the Amazon. The battle progresses to Mexico City and concludes in Las Vegas. In a previous draft, the fight ended in New York City; in fact, Godzilla triumphed over Deathla just before the evil creature would have reached the site of the September 11 attack, and one of the characters would have been the child of a fireman killed in the World Trade Center.
