| Godzilla Junior (ゴジラジュニア), also known as Baby and Little One, is the adoptive son of Godzilla featured in the last few movies of the VS Series.
Junior first appeared in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II as a Godzillasaurus egg alloparented by Rodan. Presuming it to be a rodan's egg, a scientific team unearthed it from Adona Island and shipped it to Japan for study. The egg displayed strange radioactive and psychic properties, even imprinting itself upon the biologist Azusa Gojo, before finally hatching to reveal an infant Godzilla, dubbed "Baby". When Godzilla later appeared, having sought out the baby through an unexplained psychic link, Baby recognized its own species and returned with Godzilla to Birth Island. By the time of Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla, Baby had grown to almost a third of Godzilla's height, taken on a green skin tone, and learned to spew radioactive foam reminiscent of Minya's smoke rings. Known then as "Little One" and "Little Godzilla", it interacted periodically with the human characters for much of the movie, taking a particular liking to Yuki Gondo and establishing a psychic bond with Miki Saegusa. Little One was injured and imprisoned in a cage of crystals by Space Godzilla upon its arrival to Earth and remained caged until the defeat of Space Godzilla by the combined might of Godzilla and MOGERA. Little One continued to grow, and in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah was renamed "Junior". It had reached nearly half Godzilla's height, taken on a strong likeness to the original, and learned to spew radioactive flame. Junior was killed during its second bout against Destoroyah at Haneda Airport, where Godzilla and Destoroyah soon fought. However, the radioactivity resulting from Godzilla's subsequent nuclear meltdown reanimated Junior, who appeared in the final shot resembling Godzilla more closely than ever. A note on chronologyThough Junior officially appeared in only three movies, fans attempting to frame the entire Godzilla series within a single chronology generally take the Godzilla of Godzilla 2000: Millennium to be the same creature as Junior. However, Godzilla Junior is at the end of Godzilla vs Destoroyah a good 50 metres taller than the Godzilla of Godzilla 2000, and different in many critical anatomical respects, such as posture, spine size, and the shape of their respective heads. Furthermore, Toho has themselves stated officially that the Millennium films do not adhere to any other than a select few Showa or Heisei films (if any at all), depending on the Millennium film in question. And despite both creatures essentially being infant forms of Godzilla, Junior is a separate entity from Minya.Category:Kaiju Category:Fictional dinosaurs [ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Godzilla Junior ] Some related entries: Legend of the white horse | Digital Cinema Initiatives | Danton | See No Evil, Hear No Evil | 58th BAFTA Film Awards | Laura Lansing Slept Here | The Gathering Storm | Yiddish theatre | Batman vs. Superman | Detour | Hedwig and the Angry Inch This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article Godzilla Junior; it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
