Movies - Godzilla vs. Destoroyah

In Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995), Godzilla dies after defeating Destoroyah
, a creature that was created by the Oxygen Destroyer
weapon that killed the original Godzilla. It was released in Japan on December 9, 1995. It was originally made to be the last Godzilla movie ever, no exceptions, but due to the small fiasco with the American Godzilla movie, TOHO was forced to re-enter the market.

The movie starts off with the destruction of Baas Island and a drastic increase in Godzilla's power, due to his impending meltdown. Little Godzilla, as recognised from the prequel 'Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla', features largely in this movie in both plot line and in character appearance. Ultimately involving in the fight between the pre-cambrian menace "Destoroyah". A triumphant end to the Godzilla 90s series. It is Largely thought that Godzilla Jr became Godzilla 2000. To do this he would have had to shrink by about half his original height, grow longer spines, change his face, and change his skin color. Plus, Toho has already announced that Godzilla 2000 and all the other Millennium Films are stand-alone and sequels only to Gojira (1954) unless stated in the movie.

Originally, in an Alternate Ending, After Destoroyah falls to the ground he gets back up and fires his "Chest Beam" at Godzilla. Then Godzilla rushes forward and starts to Meltdown and die while fighting Destoroyah. Destoroyah is killed by the Meltdown but Toho deleted this scene because the Meltdown was suppose to be a sad part of the film, not a battle.

Emotional Battle

Many fans of Godzilla feel a lot of sympathy for Godzilla because of this final battle. Godzilla starts out the movie being shown as being destructive and cold, and thanks to his newfound power (and the impending meltdown) he has become a threat to the planet itself. The movie does nothing but encourage this notion throughout until the final battle (Godzilla even seems uncaring when he finds his long lost son, Godzilla Junior). However, Destroyah quickly kills Junior, and Godzilla seems unable to understand what has happened, and why his son won't respond. Eventually, for possibly the first time on-screen, the king of monsters even began to shed tears. The following battle shows Godzilla acting very irrationally. His usual method is to defend himself as he learns his enemy's weakness, but this time he spent his whole time clawing and blasting Destroyah. Destroyah's image also further pushes the emotional aspect of Godzilla in, as he is much larger than Godzilla (sometimes appearing to be twice Godzilla's size), and a very demonic build and design. Whatever the case, the movie has drawn a huge fanbase for this, and Destroyah is one of the most popular of Godzilla's foes.
