| Gold Diggers of 1935 was a Hollywood movie musical released by Warner Brothers on March 15, 1935. It was the third film of the Gold Diggers series of movie musicals, the two previous ones having been released in 1929 and 1933. The movie was directed and choreographed by the legendary Busby Berkeley, and starred Dick Powell, Gloria Stuart, Adolphe Menjou, and Winifred Shaw. The film is perhaps best known for the famous "Lullaby of Broadway" production number, which features Shaw singing the song of the same name by Harry Warren. This leads into a spectacular tap dance number, featuring 100 men and women hoofing their hearts out. The film earned Busby Berkeley an Academy Award nomination for Best Dance Direction. The song "Lullaby of Broadway" won Harry Warren an Academy Award for Best Song.
