Grosse Pointe Blank is an 1997 American comedy movie, directed by George Armitage, and starrring John Cusack and Minnie Driver.

In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted Grosse Pointe Blank the 21st greatest comedy film of all time.

The movie is about a hitman named Martin Blank, played by Cusack, who gets an invitation to his High School reunion in his home town of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Initially he doesn't want to go but his secretary, played by Joan Cusack (John's sister), convinces him to go; since, coincidentally, he's been sent on a mission there anyway.

While in Grosse Pointe, Blank reunites with Debi Newberry, played by Driver, who was to be his date to the prom. Some comedy is drawn from the fact that he never picked Debi up for their date and Martin would now like to apologize for that. After their relationship is reforming, Blank is approached by a rival hitman, played by Dan Aykroyd, who wants Blank to join him in a union of hitmen, which serves as a comedic sub-plot.

Blank finally opens the envelope containing his orders for the mission that he's been sent on and finds that he has been sent to the town to kill Debi's father. Blank then experiences an existentialist transformation when he has to decide between his career or his love for Debi.

The plot is riddled with subplots as Martin, while trying to re-win the heart of Debi is also being watched by two national security agents and another hitman hired by some Russians that he had previously pissed off. The fight scene that ensues between the hitman and Martin is one of the most realistic fight scenes and is also one of the examples of how the director mixes stylized action violence and comedy.
