HMS Defiant is a British movie released in 1962 about a mutiny aboard the fictitious ship of the title at around the time of the Spithead Mutiny, starring Alec Guinness and Dirk Bogarde.

It was known as Damn the Defiant! in the United States.

Alec Guinness stars as Captain Crawford, in command of HMS Defiant, sent on a mission as part of the Napoleonic wars. A genuinely humane man, he is opposed by his First Lieutenant, Mr Scott-Padget, a supercilious and brutal man.

When the crew are goaded to mutiny by Scott-Padget's brutality, command is taken by one of the crew, Vizard, played by Anthony Quayle, but when the chance is seen to strike against a French fleet, Crawford resumes command and promises to intercede for the crew. Scott-Padget is killed by one of the crew.

In the Star Trek Universe, the was named after the ship "", and had a painting of it in its Briefing room. (: "")

Interestingly, there never was a real ship called "HMS Defiant." When writing "", the writers did a Google search for an "HMS Defiant", and mistook a website on the Defiant from the movie "Damn the Defiant!" for a real ship.
