| Half a Loaf of Kung Fu or Dian zhi gong fu gan chian chan was a 1980 Jackie Chan film. It was the first film of Chan's that he had a degree of control over. In his earlier films Chan played a typical Hong Kong film hero walking around a medieval Chinese landscape beating people up. Half a Loaf of Kung Fu was the first kung fu film spoof in the way made fun of the established order of Hong Kong film making by having Chan not as a superhero but a terrible fighter and using aspects of what would be to come Chan's trademark style of comedy. The film was not popular with producers at the time it was made in 1978 and along with many of his other early film making attempts was locked away never to be released, however when Chan became a star with Drunken Master it was released to try and cash in on his fame.
