| Havoc is an American motion picture produced in 2003 about the lives of wealthy teenagers living in Los Angeles, whose exposure to "hip hop culture" inspires them to imitate the "gangsta lifestyle." They soon run into trouble when they come face-to-face with a real gang of Latino drug dealers. It was directed by Barbara Kopple and, although it played at several film festivals, the movie did not receive a theatrical release in the U.S., the distributors deciding instead to release the film straight to DVD on November 29, 2005. The film stars Anne Hathaway, Bijou Phillips, Shiri Appleby, Freddy Rodriguez and Laura San Giacomo. The movie was filmed around Southern California, including Los Angeles, Altadena, Brentwood and Santa Monica. This film was the subject of much Internet-based rumor, due to reports that its star, Anne Hathaway, takes part in several nude scenes as well as scenes of a sexual nature. The significance of this is that Hathaway had, prior to this film, been associated primarily with family-friendly films for Walt Disney Studios such as The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted. The rumor mill progressed to the point where claims were made of near-pornographic activity being shown in the film, but Hathaway and others downplayed this. Another rumor related to this film is that Disney somehow convinced a rival studio not to release the film in competition with Hathaway's Princess Diaries sequel, but this has not been confirmed. Two versions of the film were released to DVD in North America. Both feature Hathaway appearing topless in a couple of scenes, but most of the simulated sexual activity is actually performed by co-star Bijou Phillips. Cast
