| Heavy is a 1995 drama movie, directed by James Mangold, and stars Liv Tyler, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Shelley Winters, and Deborah Harry. Mangold won "Best Screenplay" and Grand Prix Asturias "Best Feature" at the Gijón International Film Festival, and the Special Jury Prize for Directing at the Sundance Film Festival. Some scenes were filmed at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, USA. Heavy is a production of Available Light. Joe Grifasi and Evan Dando play major supporting roles. The plot hinges around the arrival of an attractive new waitress (Tyler) at a remote diner, where she turns the solitary life of the overweight chef (Vince) upside down. Moving and ultimately disturbing, its themes are loneliness, false hope, and the problem of self worth.
