Herbie: Fully Loaded is a 2005
film by Walt Disney Pictures
, starring Lindsay Lohan
alongside Michael Keaton
, Matt Dillon
, Breckin Meyer
and Justin Long
. Lindsay Lohan recorded her debut album Speak while filming Herbie: Fully Loaded. She also visited a hospital several times for exhaustion while filming the movie.

Plot

It's Maggie Peyton's (Lindsay Lohan
) university graduation. Her father, Ray Peyton Sr. (Michael Keaton
), offers to buy her a used car as a graduation present. He then drives her to a junkyard to pick out one from a collection of very used cars. Maggie wanders off to find one. She then finds a stock car that is not in very good condition, but she gets in anyway and pretends to be racing. Herbie, parked nearby, sees her doing this and, seeing her interest in racing, begins to try to get her attention. But then Herbie is taken to go to be lifted by a giant claw to be put on the machine to get crushed. Herbie gets parked behind an old Nissan. At the same time, Maggie comes over to talk to her dad, who is already there, talking to the junkyard owner. Herbie decides to try honking at her. When he does, Maggie says, "Wow! If this horn hadn't gone off, I would've never found, (at this point, Herbie is anxious, thinking she is talking about him) this Nissan!" Herbie frowns again. Suddenly, he is picked up by the giant claw. Still trying to get her attention, Herbie turns on his windshield wipers and open and closes his doors, but still, no attention from her. At this point, Maggie is offering a price for the Nissan. Just when Herbie gets right over it, he drops from the claw, crushing the Nissan. Maggie sighs and buys Herbie for $75. When she gets into him, the glove compartment opens, revealing an envelope. Maggie opens it, it reads, "Please take care of Herbie. Whatever your problem is, he'll help you find the answer." "Great, she says, fortune cookie on wheels." As she is driving him home, Herbie suddenly decides to go fast, causing Maggie to panic and to wonder what is going on. She then discovers that he has a mind of his own. She then discovers that he has a different route for her future, becoming a NASCAR competitor.

Herbie has a ton of new tricks to show, including one where he goes up on his side. There's others including one where he is driving backwards, then goes up on his tail and turns around, and one where he rides a rail.

Miscellany

Maggie buys Herbie from the junkyard for $75. This is the same price for which Jim Douglas buys Herbie from Thorndyke in the original movie.

Some differences between the original Herbie and the remake's: The number "53" is in a different font, as well as bigger on the hood and smaller on the doors than with the original. Also, it is further down the hood, and the silver stripe goes over the "53" rather than under. ALso in the new version, the stripes do not go over the sunroof. The 2005 movie is also the first in which Herbie sports eyelids.

This is the first theatrical Love Bug film since Herbie Goes Bananas
(1980).

The sign at the car show at the beginning of the movie says "El Dorado". This is the name of the final big race in the first movie.

In order to avoid offending family audiences, Disney had computer technicians in post-production digitally reduce Lohan's bust by two cup sizes, particularly for scenes showing the actress jumping up and down at the raceway; they also raising revealing necklines.
