| Hero is a drama movie starring Dustin Hoffman, Geena Davis and Andy Garcia and directed by Stephen Frears. It was released in the United States on Friday, October 2, 1992. It is also known as Accidental Hero. Hero is about a thief (played by Hoffman) who, after anonymously helping rescue survivors of a plane crash, discovers another man taking credit for his heroic actions. The film was a major box office flop and contributed to the decline of both Davis and Garcia's careers. Mariah Carey originally recorded her #1 hit single, "Hero", for the film but the filmmakers did not think the power ballad was a good fit.
