Hostel (2006) is director Eli Roth's second feature film. The movie contains scenes of torture and violence.PlotThe movie is set in Europe. Three backpackers (Paxton and Josh from the US and Óli from Iceland) enjoy prostitution in Amsterdam, where they learn of a Slovak hostel featuring beautiful local women willing to have sex with any Westerner for little money. The trio decides to track down the hostel. Everything seems well, but unfortunately there is more to the hostel than meets the eye. The next morning, Óli goes missing. Later Josh is also missing. Paxton, in his search for Josh, goes to a place where, he is told, Josh can be found. He is taken to an old factory, in which he is told there is an art exhibition that his friends have gone to. However, he shortly finds out that the place is a torture center run as a business by a criminal organization where the victims are kidnapped foreign backpackers. "Customers" pay to torture them to death for pleasure, using the facilities of the center. Japanese girls are the most expensive costing US$50,000, US victims cost US$25,000 and locals cost US$10,000.Paxton is about to be killed, but manages to escape, killing several personnel and customers. His initial trip on the elevator brings him to the top floor of the factory's building, which seems to be a dressing room for customers. Paxton dresses in clothing he finds there, and finds the business card of the organization. As he tries to exit, Paxton runs into a client who is about to go into one of the torture rooms for his "special treat." He thinks Paxton is also a customer, so he chats Paxton up about what the experience is like and what he plans to do. Paxton talks his way out of the encounter and continues his escape. Once outside and about to flee, he hears Kana, an Asian girl he met at the hostel, screaming. He reenters the building and saves her life from the customer he'd talked to upstairs. They escape in a car, with which they kill some of the people who participated in setting their trap. In exchange for chewing gum, they are assisted by a group of violent street children. The two flee on foot from a roadblock and arrive at a railway station. Here the girl sees her reflection in a window and, disgusted at how disfigured she has become at the torture center, commits suicide by jumping in front of the train. This creates a distraction that Paxton uses to get into another train and escape. On the way back in the train, Paxton sees the older man who lured them to the hostel. When he gets off the train and goes to a toilet, Paxton follows and kills him. There was an alternate ending filmed, but it was supposedly cut after test screenings. In the alternate version Paxton doesn't kill the old man, but instead kidnaps his daughter in the train station. This version will most likely be available on the DVD release.
