Movies - I'm Not Scared

I'm Not Scared (Io non ho paura) is an Italian novel by Niccolò Ammaniti which was made into a movie, directed by Gabriele Salvatores, in 2003. It is loosely based on a true story of a kidnapped boy from Milan.

Plot

1978, South Italy, the hottest summer of the century: while playing in the countryside, nine-year-old Michele (played by Giuseppe Cristiano) discovers Filippo (Mattia Di Pierro), who is chained to the ground at the bottom of a hole. Michele witnesses town baddie Felice (Giorgio Careccia) nearby and suspects something bad is happening. Michele is unsure whom he should tell about his discovery, eventually spilling the beans to his closest friend. Michele's parents learn of his discovery and warn him to forget whatever he saw. As it turns out, Filippo is moved to another hole. Michele manages to find and free Filippo. Michele is shot by his father, because he mistook his son for Fillipo.
