In the Year 2889, is a horror/science fiction movie. It was produced by American International's television, and released in the year 1967. The director used the script from "The Day the World Ended," and the two movies are almost identical. The movie runs for about 80 minutes. Also known as "Year 2889" or simply "2889"

Plot summary

After Nuclear Warheads have destroyed the entire world all thats left is a small valley surrounded by hills full of lead ore. John Ramsey, his daughter Joanna Ramsey, and her fiance are all going to live there and supposedly repopulate the world. At least tats John Ramseys plan, but Joanna's fiance never shows up, and instead Steve, his brother Granger, Mickey Brown, Jada, and Tim Henderson somehow survive and need shelter. Naturally Joanna lets them stay despite her fathers objections. Things look alright at first, and asuming it doesn't rain radioactive rain down on them, everyone should survive just fine even if they are a little hungry. Joanna starts getting bad feelings that someone is watching, and even trying to talk to her! Mickey and Steve both fall in love with her, and Jada is extremely jealous. Meanwhile Granger has begun venturing out of the house and even outside of the valley. Steve and John Ramsey are walking out in the woods, when suddenly a mutant from outside the valley runs in front of them and dies but not before reavealing that there are more stronger mutants outside the valley. Earlier John had revealed that he had reaserched surviving animals from a nuclear test, and they had become hardened disgusting creatures. Steve comes up with a theory that Radioactive mutants have 3 forms.

STAGE 1 - Granger STAGE 2 - The mutant that they just met STAGE 3 - Stronger mutants outside of the valley Steve comes across his brothers dead corpse, he apears to have been killed by a stronger mutant in the valley. Then Tim Henderson is killed by the mutant too. Things get worse still when Mickey Brown, grows sick of Jada coming on to him, and drowns her in the pool.

In the shocking conclusion Joanna finds herself drawn outside and runs into the mutant, where (of course) she faints and it carries her away. Steve leaves his pistol with John and takes a special luger to fight the mutants. John hides the pistol under his pillow, while leaving his other pistol on top of him while he sleeps. It begins to rain, but luckily the rain is no longer radioactive and melts the mutant which is not effected by gunfire. Steve and Joanna are reunited.

Mickey Brown is not done yet though, he takes the pistol from John Ramsey while he sleeps and prepares to shoot Steve as he comes back with Joanna. John pulls out the hidden pistol from under the pillow and shoots Mickey. The movie ends suddenly with Steve and Joanna running back to the house and showing their holding hands up close and saying "THE BEGINING"

Characters

Steve: The good guy, who pretty much does everything right.
Joanna Ramsey: More or less the main character, who is responsable for letting all the survivors of the fallout into her fathers house.
John Ramsey: A ship captain who used to research nuclear bombs.
Mickey Brown: The bad guy, who goes insane over Joanna.
Jada: An "exotic dancer" who has the hots for Mickey Brown.
Tim Henderson: A cowboy, with a drinking problem.
Granger: Steve's brother, who has been hit with radioactivity, and is in "Stage 1" of mutation
The Mutant: This Creepy mutant who has been lurking around the valley.
