Movies - Initial D

Initial D is a 2005 live-action film based on the Japanese Initial D
manga
and anime series. It is directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, whose credits include the 2002 smash hit Infernal Affairs
and 1999's The Legend of Speed, a previous street racing melodrama.

Plot

The film concerns a young tofu-delivery driver called Takumi, whose skills in negotiating the turns of a winding mountain road gain him the attention of several street racers. The film chronicles his evolution from a casual driver with no interest in competition to a hardened touge street racer.

Takumi owns a Toyota AE86 seemingly unmodified but has incredible skill at negotiating his local hill Mt. Akina, and this gains the attention of several street racers from across the area including Ryosuke Takahashi, an experienced RX-7 owner who helps him climb the street racing ladder. Along the way Takumi must deal with his alcoholic father and his girlfriend who is secretly a call girl.
