| Inland Empire (the official title may be written INLAND EMPIRE in all capital letters ) is an upcoming film directed by David Lynch. At the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, Lynch announced that he had spent over a year shooting this new film on digital video. The cast includes Lynch regulars such as Laura Dern, Harry Dean Stanton, Kyle MacLachlan and Justin Theroux, as well as Jeremy Irons and newcomer Terryn Westbrook. Lynch described the film as "a mystery about a woman in trouble." In another interview he had this to say about the film making process, "I’ve never worked on a project in this way before. I don’t know exactly how this thing will finally unfold... This film is very different because I don’t have a script. I write the thing scene by scene and much of it is shot and I don’t have much of a clue where it will end. It’s a risk, but I have this feeling that because all things are unified, this idea over here in that room will somehow relate to that idea over there in the pink room." The title is taken from the name of the San Bernardino-Riverside metropolitan area east of Los Angeles, where the movie is set. FilmingLynch has shot much of the film in Łódź, Poland, with local actors, notably notably Karolina Gruszka, Krzysztof Majchrzak, Leon Niemczyk and Piotr Andrzejewski. He shot in and around Los Angeles, and has recently returned from Poland to complete filming. The film’s premiere is scheduled for the next Cannes Film Festival. In Poland, the film will probably come out in the autumn, and Kino Świat will be the distributor. Lynch announced that he will shoot movies on digital video from now on, and not on film. Financing and releaseLynch has financed the production to date from his own resources, with his wife and longtime artistic collaborator Mary Sweeney producing. The film was partially financed by the French production company Canal Plus, which had financed three previous Lynch films. The film's theatrical release date is unknown but Lynch has said that StudioCanal wants to enter it in the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.CastOther cast members include Ian Abercrombie, Kristen Kerr, Peter J. Lucas, Masuimi Max, Julia Ormond, Emily Stofle, Kat Turner, and Terryn Westbrook[ Visit the complete Wikipedia entry for Inland Empire (film) ] Some related entries: Apatosaurus | Happy Feet | Downtown 81 | Åsa-Nisse | 54th Golden Globe Awards nominees | Bwana Devil | The Believers | Chouriki Sentai Ohranger | AFI's 100 Years... 100 Laughs | Matrubhoomi | Gold This page is based on the copyrighted Wikipedia article Inland Empire (film); it is used under the GNU Free Documentation License.
