Movies - Jack Fisk

Jack Fisk is a fictional character from the 2004 TV series Battlestar Galactica
.

Fisk was a Colonel aboard the Battlestar Pegasus
and was the Executive Officer (XO) of the vessel, serving under the command of Admiral Helena Cain
. Fisk was first encountered when the refugee fleet discovers the Pegasus, learning the ship had survived the Cylon
attack on the colonies. Fisk portrays himself as a "by-the-book" officer, who is fearful of his superior, Cain.

As the crews from both Battlestars begin to interact, Fisk soon befriends his Galactica counterpart Colonel Tigh
. In a drunken discussion, Fisk tells Tigh about the time when Admiral Cain shot her original XO in cold blood for daring to question an order and Fisk took over the position. Fisk then tells Tigh that he was only joking, but harrowing suspicions about Cain are already spreading throughout the fleet.

Admiral Cain meanwhile, becomes convinced that Commander Adama
is untrustworthy and unqualified to command the Galactica. During a mission plan to strike the Cylon Resurrection Ship, Cain orders Fisk to take a team of loyal Marines to Galactica bridge and assassinate Adama once the strike is completed. Unbeknown to Cain, Adama likewise had planed her assassination, and asks Kara "Starbuck" Thrace
, who Cain has begun to trust, to get close to Cain and shoot her in the head. At the last minute however, both Cain and Adama call off their plans. A greatly relieved Fisk bursts into laughter and resolves to buy everyone in the Galactica CIC a drink.

Later, Fisk goes to visit the imprisoned Lt. Karl "Helo" Agathon
and Chief Galen Tyrol
in the Pegasus brig. Fisk says that the man that Helo and Tyrol accidentally killed, Lieutenant Thorne, was greatly admired and that many of the Pegasus crew, himself included, owe Thorne their lives. Helo and Tyrol reply that they were only trying to defend Sharon "Boomer" Valerii
, whom Thorne was attempting to rape during an interrogation, but Fisk dismisses this, saying that "You can't rape a machine." Nevertheless, after Cain is killed by the Cylon prisoner Gina
, Fisk releases Tyrol and Helo, under President Roslin
and the newly promoted Admiral Adama's authority.

Eventually, Fisk is promoted to Commander and assumes command of the Pegasus after Cain's death. However, this does not last long. Fisk quickly turns greedy and becomes involved in the fleet's black market ring. The market's leader, Phalen, has Fisk murdered in his quarters.

Fisk is subsequently replaced as Commander of the Pegasus by promoted engineering officer, Commader Barry Garner, who likewise has a short command. Garner disobeys Admiral Adama's orders not to rescue a pair of Colonial Raptor
s, and is killed trying to save the ship during a Cylon attack. Pegasus is then given to Major Lee Adama
, who is promoted by Admiral Adama to Commander.
