| Jimmy Smallhorne is a film writer and director. His first film was 2by4, in which he also acted. Other films include Pushers Needed (2005), and acted in When the Sky Falls (2000). He was one of 8 children from a Roman Catholic family in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. He won a green card in a visa lottery and came to the United States. He worked in construction on building sites like many other immigrants (documented and otherwise), where he apparently thought up the idea for his first film, 2by4 (1998), which he made with the help of, among others, cinematographer Declan Quinn ("Leaving Las Vegas", "Vanya on 42nd Street", "Kama Sutra"), a brother of Irish-American actor Aidan Quinn. 2by4 was first released at Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
