Kamen Rider Hibiki (仮面ライダー響鬼, meaning "Masked Rider Sound Demon") is the sixth of the "Second Generation" Kamen Rider shows. It takes a turn from other Kamen Rider shows and introduces new themes and styles yet unseen in other shows. The main hero is Hibiki, a man who has the power to become an Oni and fight other demons. Along with Todoroki and Ibuki, and with a young boy named Asumu, they fight alongside Takeshi to defend Japan.

TV series

The television series debuted on TV Asahi on January 30, 2005. On the cover it is about the battle between a Japanese secret organization called Takeshi (猛士) and an assortment of monstrous creatures called Makamo (魔化魍). The story is often told from the perspective of Adachi Asumu, a 14 year-old student who has befriended Hibiki, one of the combatant agents of Takeshi (鬼, pronounced Oni), under some unexpected circumstances.

The spin-off Asumu Henshin was released direct-to-video during the later half of 2005. It is special feature that Adachi Asumu plays an active part as Oni, guided by Takeshi's Animal discs. The Oni form of Asumu is identical to Hibiki. The only other Oni in the video (not counting the stock footage scenes) is Sabaki.

The combatant agents of Takeshi are known as Oni. They are marketed as Kamen Riders by the production studios and toy companies, despite they are never addressed as such within the shows.

Trivia

The title of every Oni bears the -ki suffix (鬼), which is semantically identical to "Oni" in Japanese. It also has some resemblance with the real name of the Oni.
Kamen Rider Shuki is the first female Rider to appear in a TV series (as Kamen Rider Femme
and Kamen Rider Larc
were only movie Kamen Riders) and the third legitimate female Rider in the Kamen Rider Franchise and like her predecessors, she too was killed off.
A new version of the Henshin Hero, Ninja Arashi was used in the series.
