L'homme du train (The Man on the Train) is a 2002
British funded comic-drama movie, directed by Patrice Leconte, starring Jean Rochefort
and Johnny Hallyday

The movie was shot in Annonay, France and won the audience awards at the Venice Film Festival for "Best Film" and "Best Actor" (Jean Rochefort) in 2002.

This was the first foreign language film in which the British Film Council invested £500,000.

Tagline

A poet. A thief. Two strangers with nothing in common are about to trade their lives for a chance to cheat their destinies.

Plot

In a deserted train station, a gangster, Milan (played by Johnny Hallyday), meets a provincial teacher, M. Manesquier (Jean Rochefort), on the verge of retirement. Their meeting in an almost dead city changes their lives. Each realises he might have been better suited to the other man's way of life.
