| Lady on a Train is a black-and-white comedy shot in film noir style. The film, starring Deanna Durbin, was directed by Durbin's future third husband Charles David. The film's music score was by Miklós Rózsa. Durbin sings the standards "Silent Night" and "Night and Day." The comedy, musical and film noir seems to be a spoof on Cornell Woolrich mystery stories that were popular at the time. Future cowboy star Lash La Rue has a small part playing a waiter at the Circus Club. A woman witnesses a murder while peaking into a buildings window while driving by on a train. No one believes her, when Nikki goes to the police. Instead they think that her story is simply the product of an overactive imagination. Nikki approaches mystery writer Wayne Morgan (David Bruce) to help solve the mystery.
