Lan Yu () is a gay-themed Chinese film by Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan in 2001. This movie is based on a popular cyber story in China called Beijing story.

Plot synopsis

The movie tells a love story between two men, set in Beijing in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The movie ends after Lanyu’s death in an accident.

It can be counted as a mainland-made movie, because most of the crew are from mainland China. Nevertheless, this movie is banned there (see Homosexuality in China).

This film won many awards in different movie festivals throughout Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. (To be added)
