| A clique of school girls devise a secret plan that they code-name "Lick the Star". Sofia Coppola's debut Black and whte short explores the themes that Sofia would expand on in her excellent debut feature The Virgin Suicides. It's about teenage alienation, the fickle attitudes of high school girls, and the dangers brought on by boredom born out of affluence. Peter Bogdanovich cameos as the Principal, Lance Accord is cinematograper and Kim Gordon and the Go-Gos feature on the soundtrack. Coppola shows her eye for a dreamy shot (the opening car journey) that enhanced The Virgin Suicides and Lost In Translation.
