Movies - Loonatics Unleashed

Loonatics Unleashed is an animated series produced by Warner Bros. that is on Kids WB. Loonatics Unleashed debuted on September 17, 2005. The series is loosely based on the Looney Tunes
cartoon characters, with the series described by Warner Bros. as an "action-comedy." Loonatics Unleashed is meant to be a mixture of the Looney Tunes shorts' irreverent style of humor and a modern action animated series, with the characters designed in an anime style.

The characters in Loonatics Unleashed were designed by Christian Tremblay and Yvon Tremblay, who created and designed SWAT Kats for Hanna-Barbera and Mega Babies
.

Premise

Loonatics Unleashed takes place in the year 2772 on the fictional city-planet of Acmetropolis. In that year a meteor from space strikes Acmetropolis and knocks it completely off of its original axis. However, instead of destroying the planet, the impact of the meteor and its resultant shockwave gives off supernatural cosmic energies that give some inhabitants superpowers while incapacitating others in its wake. Zodavia, a presumably very wealthy woman who is by most appearances the leader of Acmetropolis' ruling body (voiced by Candi Milo
) calls upon six of the affected residents that live in Acmetropolis to form a team of superheroes to dispatch for the purpose of combating any and all threats to Acmetropolis and its citizens. The formed team is known as the Loonatics. These characters supposedly are the descendants of the classic Looney Tunes characters. Descendants of other looney tunes are unknown.

The first five episodes of Loonatics Unleashed take place in 2772, the year that the meteor struck Acmetropolis. However, in the episode "The Comet Cometh," the city's citizens are celebrating the one year anniversary of the Loonatics' debut, which means that it can be assumed that the episode and all future episodes take place in the year 2773. Additionally, a mysterious character appears in the final moments of "The Comet Cometh" to state that the meteor's striking Acmetropolis in 2772 was not an incidental event but actually a deliberate attempt to destroy Acmetropolis, as was the larger second meteor that the episode involves. With the first attempt having the effects of the energy release and the Loonatics stopping the second attempt, the figure states that he plans to attack the planet a 3rd time sometime in the future, though he does not explain why he tried to destroy Acmetropolis twice before.

Note: Although all Loonatics wear a black jumpsuit, the major difference in color is noted by the triangle in the center of their chest and the color of their communicator on their arm. In the episode "The Comet Cometh," it is further revealed that the Loonatics, out of their costumes, are colored the same as their Looney Tunes ancestors. Also it is of note that Zodavia, while not an active member of the Loonatics, wears a black triangle in the center of her outfit.

Their eyes glow brightly in times of battle, in the color similar to their individual suits.

Characters

The Loonatics and Villains are listed below:

Loonatics

The main characters of the series. They are:
  • Ace Bunny (voiced by Charlie Schlatter): the adroit and quick-witted, action-driven leader who galvanizes his crew for each mission. Ace possesses powers including optical enhancement, infrared laser-lock vision (or laser blasts from his eyes) and martial arts expertise. He proves himself as an excellent swordsman, since he carries a collapsible one. Before getting his powers, Ace was a martial arts stunt double working for a movie studio. Ace is a descendant of Bugs Bunny, right down to the voice, and wears a yellow colored uniform.
  • Lexi Bunny (voiced by Jessica Di Cicco
): the second-in-command of the Loonatics. Lexi possesses expert eavesdropping skills, hyper-sensitive hearing, tremendous aerial agility and the ability to blast objects with her mind. Before getting her powers, Lexi was a student at Acmetropolis University who tried to join the school's cheerleader squad. Lexi is a descendant of Lola Bunny, and wears a pink colored costume. Whether Bugs and Lola married and had kids and if Ace and Lexi are even related is unknown.
  • Danger Duck (voiced by Jason Marsden
): the spotlight hungry, egoistical member of the Loonatics, Danger longs to steal the spotlight and leadership position from Ace. Danger boasts teleportation powers (called a "quantum quack" in the opening credits and often called "Quacking") and the ability to toss magical energy spheres. Before gaining his powers, Duck worked as a swimming pool cleaner, and true to form, he dreamed of becoming a lifeguard. Danger is a descendant of Daffy Duck, and wears an orange colored costume. His voice sounds similar to Daffy Duck, but without his trademark lisp.
  • Rev Runner (voiced by Rob Paulsen
): the rapid-fire, head-spinning talker the Loonatics are quick to quash. Rev Runner possesses a brain-embedded telekinetic GPS-tracking system and the power of superspeed. In addition to hyper speed and GPS, Rev has the power to fly. Before his meteor-induced transformation, Rev was a sandwich delivery boy who, despite the use of rocket skates, was always late. Rev is a descendant of the Road Runner, and wears a red colored costume. Unlike his ancestor, who only went "beep beep", Rev can actually talk.
  • Slam Tasmanian (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson
): the group's grunting muscle-bound heavyweight, who possesses superstrength. Slam can spin into a tornado. He can also launch smaller tornados from his fist. before becoming a superhero, Slam was a professional wrestler. Slam is a descendant of the Tasmanian Devil, and wears a purple costume.
  • Tech E. Coyote (also voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson): the team's technician, Tech E. constructs vehicles and conducts surveillance, and also has powers of molecular regeneration that render him nearly immortal, thou not invincible. He also has the ability to create magnetic pulses that allow him to levitate metallic objects and scramble electronics. Before the meteor struck Acmetropolis, Tech was a student at the Acme Institute, where his urge to achieve perfection led to numerous screw-ups. Tech E. is a descendant of Wile E. Coyote, and wears a green colored costume. He does not have an English accent, like Wile E. Coyote did.
