Mama Flora's Family is a movie about an African American women (Cicely Tyson) keeping her family together. Her oldest son, Luke Lincolon (Mario Van Peebles), was taken away from her when he was a baby. She then moves to Memphis, TN for a fresh start, where she marries a man named Booker T. Palmer. She then has a second son, Willie Palmer (Blair Underwood). Willie has a gambling problem, and his wife dies leaving him with their three childern; Diana (Queen Latifah), Booker, and Dawn. Diana grows up, has a child, and Mama Flora comes and opens her house to her. Mama Flora then shares her lifestory.
