| Martin Seamus "Marty" McFly Jr is a fictional character in the Back to the Future movies, played by actor Michael J. Fox. "Marty Jr", as he is known, was born in 1998 and is the son of Marty and Jennifer McFly. He has a sister, Marlene (a draft script of Part II suggested that Marlene and Marty Jr were twins, as both their ages were given as 17 - however, Marlene's age has never been confirmed and many fans think she is a year or two older). At 17, Marty Jr looks almost identical to his father at the same age - this allows Marty, from 1985, to pretend to be his son in 2015. However, Marty Jr is not exactly the same. Whilst both he and his sister strongly resemble their father a lot more than their mother (due to all 3 being played by Michael J Fox, Marty Jr has brown eyes like his mother, as opposed to blue eyes like his father. Marty Jr. likes watching television, usually 6 channels at a time as is common in 2015. He appears to be a cross between his grandfather, George McFly (in the original timeline) and his father, in that whilst he is not a total nerd, he can be a bit of a wimp. He will try to stand up for himself, yet usually gives in to peer pressure. Marty Jr is not however afraid to be a "smartass" though and often makes (usually bad) jokes. Like many people in his age, he wears his pants inside out. Pre-Back to the FutureLittle is known about Marty Jr's life pre-2015, when he is aged 17. In 1985, his father Marty Sr was in a car accident which resulted in him breaking his hand and being sued by the other driver, all because a classmate challenged him to a race. Marty had said "no", but had given in after being called a "chicken". Marty spent the next 30 years feeling sorry for himself, and this attitude might have influenced Marty Jr. Without a confident father around, Marty Jr became a pushover and a wimp (much to the horror of 1985 Marty), and is bullied by Griff Tannen and his gang.Marty Jr's self-adjusting jacket is also broken on one sleeve, suggesting that he doesn't have a part time job to repair it/buy a new one, or else he does not really care much about his appearance. Back to the Future Part IIOn the afternoon of October 21, 2015, Marty Jr meets Griff Tannen in the Cafe 80's ("one of those nostalgia places but not done very well"). Griff asks Marty Jr to join him and his gang with a robbery. Although he originally says "no", Marty Jr is thrown over the counter by Griff and he agrees to join them. At 1.28am the next morning, the gang (plus Marty Jr) rob the Hill Valley Payroll Substation with a stolen disguising unit, but are caught when Marty Jr sets off an alarm. Griff and his gang distance themselves from the crime, so Marty Jr is blamed and sentenced to 15 years in prison. The following week, Marlene tries to break him out of jail and is caught - she gets sentenced to 20 years inside. Doc Brown, visiting from 1985 in his DeLorean time machine, finds out about all this and vows to prevent it from happening. Luckily all this changes on October 21. Doc brings the 1985 versions of Marty and Jennifer to 2015 and knocks the real Marty Jr. out, so Marty from 1985 takes his place. However, because Doc used the sleep inducing alpha rythmn generator on Jennifer earlier, there is not enough power to knock out Marty Jr for the full hour, and he still goes to the Cafe 80's to meet Griff. When he gets thrown over the counter and knocked out, his father steps in pretending to be him. Marty, as Marty Jr., says "No" to Griff, a response that Griff was not expecting. After much chaos including a hoverboard chase around Courthouse Square, Marty manages to get Griff sent to jail by causing Griff to crash into the Courthouse on his hoverboard. Now that Griff is in jail, the robbery will never happen and Marty Jr will not go to jail.
