Movies - Mike's New Car

Mike's New Car is a 2002 Pixar
-animated short based on the two main characters from Monsters Inc.. Mike gets a new six-wheel drive car, and shows it off to Sulley. When things start to go terribly wrong, the duo decide to stick to walking to work for the time being.

In Pixar-short history, Mike's New Car is notable for two things: being the first short to utilize vocal performances (that is, of actual words, as opposed to Tin Toy's baby cry, Geri's grunts and laughs, and the squawks in For the Birds), and being the first to take characters and situations from a previously established work. Both Mike Wazowski and Sulley are indeed voiced by their original voice actors, Billy Crystal
and John Goodman
, and the whole joke of the short is predicated on understanding Mike's obsessive love for his previous red car. (Sulley refused to let Mike drive it in Monsters, Inc. because of an energy shortage).
