Movies - Mimic


Mimic is a 1997 science fiction horror film, directed by Guillermo del Toro, with a script inspired by a short story of the same name by Donald A. Wollheim.

Plot

The film featured a genetically-modified species of hybrid termite-mantis' created in a successful effort to control disease-carrying cockroach populations in New York. The hybrids rapidly evolve and are able to mimic human beings.

Tagline: For thousands of years, man has been evolution's greatest creation... until now.

Trivia

  • Robert Rodriguez served as the second unit director on this film. Rodriguez is known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino
    , who was dating the film's star, Mira Sorvino, at the time Mimic was being made.
  • Armory Station in reality is completely fictional, however it borrows heavy inspiration from the real IRT subway station, City Hall (IRT Lexington Avenue Line).
