Mimic is a 1997 science fiction horror film, directed by Guillermo del Toro, with a script inspired by a short story of the same name by Donald A. Wollheim.

Plot

The film featured a genetically-modified species of hybrid termite-mantis' created in a successful effort to control disease-carrying cockroach populations in New York. The hybrids rapidly evolve and are able to mimic human beings.

Tagline: For thousands of years, man has been evolution's greatest creation... until now.

Trivia

Robert Rodriguez served as the second unit director on this film. Rodriguez is known for his collaborations with Quentin Tarantino
, who was dating the film's star, Mira Sorvino, at the time Mimic was being made.

Armory Station in reality is completely fictional, however it borrows heavy inspiration from the real IRT subway station, City Hall (IRT Lexington Avenue Line).
