Mississippi Masala (1991) is a film directed by Mira Nair, based upon a screenplay by Sooni Taraporevala.StoryA third generation Ugandan-Indian family is expelled from Uganda during the 1970s when Idi Amin takes power. The father, Jay (Roshan Seth) moves his wife, Kinnu (Sharmila Tagore) and daughter, Mina (Sarita Choudhury) to the U.S. state of Mississippi in order to live with family members who own a chain of motels there. Years later, Mina falls in love with Demetrius (Denzel Washington) an African American man and the respective families have to come to terms with it.Cast and crew
