Multiplicity is a 1996 film starring Michael Keaton and Andie MacDowell. The film was produced and directed by Harold Ramis.

Synopsis

In the movie Keaton's character, a stressed-out family man, meets up with cloning enthusiast and makes a clone of himself in order to take over for himself at work while he tries to spend some quality time with his family. The clone, called "two", turns out to be overly macho and easily irritated suffering a residual personality-quirk of the cloning process (while having all the knowledge, memory and experience of Doug).

Eventually two more clones are made. "Three", in sharp contrast to two, is extremely thoughtful and sensitive (two considering him a wuss). "Four" is cloned from two and unfortunately this causes his IQ to be slightly lower than that of two and three as explained that the personality quirks are more violent when a clone is cloned (in a similar fashion as a copied photo may not be as sharp as the original). Four has the mentality of an exited child.

Eventually Doug's cloning misadventures end up complicating rather than simplifying his life.
