My Family is a 1995 film directed by Gregory Nava, who was previously nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay in El Norte
. Gregory Nava and his wife, Anna Thomas, also wrote the screenplay. The film is also known as My Family/Mi Familia.

The film tracks three generations of a Latino family that emigrated from Mexico and settled in East Los Angeles. In the 1930's Maria and Jose, the first generation, come to America, meet and marry, and face deportation due to political and cultural intolerance.

The second generation, in the 1950's, deals with the children of Maria and Jose, and the continued ethnic bigotry they face in Los Angeles.

In the 1960's, as the second generation matures, the third generation face situations like acculturation, assimilation, and the echos of past wrongs on the family.
